Welcome

Sacred Heart is a one form entry Roman Catholic Primary School in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. We are proud to be the parish school of St. Robert's Church in Fenham, Newcastle and have a rich history and tradition which dates back more than 100 years. The present school was built in 1995.

Our school is privileged to belong to the Worldwide Network of Sacred Heart Schools in which we take an active role. This allows us to link directly with other schools, bringing staff and children together across the world. We are committed to enhancing and developing the lives of all of our children and staff in a truly Christian manner and to providing a way of life which will maximise the spiritual, emotional, creative and academic qualities of every child.

Sacred Heart Schools were originally founded by the Society of the Sacred Heart, a religious congregation of women instituted by St Madeleine Sophie Barat in France.

As a network member, we have have adopted the Five Goals of Sacred Heart Education.

These are a commitment to educate students to:

  • a personal and active faith in God,
  • a deep respect for intellectual values,
  • a social awareness which impels to action,
  • the building of community as a Christian value, and
  • personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

Each year we follow one of the five Sacred Heart Goals and this impacts right across the life of our school.

Our new Sacred Heart Goal is 'Valuing Intellect' this year which is all about learning that we can all develop growth mind sets, which tells us that, if we work hard, with perseverance and determination we can do anything, even if we can't do it - yet!

This year we are taking our inspiration from the Olympians and their success in Rio. In particular we are taking inspiration from the Paralympians and their motto of 'Yes I Can'.
